The due date for Form 2290 is April 30th, which is right in the middle of both business and personal income taxes!

No one should argue that we have a list of taxes scheduled to begin in March. It all starts with your business taxes and progresses to your personal taxes. Are these the only two taxes that must be paid, No!

For vehicles that entered service last month for the first time since July 2020, your Federal Excise Tax Form 2290 (HVUT) is due by the end of the month, just as it is every month. To clarify, any heavy vehicle with a gross weight of 55,000 lbs or more that was first used on the road in March 2021 and has been on the road since July 2020 is required to file a Federal Excise Tax Form 2290 (HVUT) by April 30, 2021. HVUT Form 2290 and 1st Qtr IFTA are due April 30, 2021

A gentle reminder from the Tax2290 team, the first IRS Approved E-file Service Provider to e-file federal excise tax form 2290, about the approaching tax Due Date.

With hundreds of things running through the back of your head, it’s easy to overlook things you only do once in a while. Taxes are one of the things that you don’t do too much. We understand that you have a lot on your plate, so we suggest that you E-file your Federal Excise Taxes as soon as possible to stop the last-minute scramble.

Taxes that are due April 30, 2021:

  • Form 2290: to E-file your Federal Excise Tax Form 2290 for Vehicles first used in the Month of March 2021. E-file your HVUT Tax Form 2290 to receive a stamped schedule-1 copy within minutes.
  • Form 720: Your Quarterly Excise Tax Form 720 for the First Quarter of 2021 is also due by the end of this month. To escape fines and interest, register your taxes as soon as possible using www.Taxexcise.com.
  • TaxForm IFTA: This month also marks the deadline for the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) for the First Quarter of 2021. While there is no way to E-file, you can get them prepared online to escape complex tax estimates.

Pro-rated FORM 2290 is Due Today for Vehicles First used in January 2021!

Taxes aren’t everyone’s favorite part of life, but if we take care of them before the deadlines, we can eliminate the stress. Recently filing tax forms and paying tax fees has been a stressful task due to the pandemic, but there is more to it, the “HVUT”. The Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT) is an annual charge imposed on heavy vehicles with recorded gross weights of 55,000 pounds or more that travel on public highways. The weight of the truck, trailer, and load are added together to calculate the total taxable weight of a vehicle.

Heavy Vehicle Use Taxes must be filed on an annual basis using Form 2290. The Heavy Vehicles Tax Cycle starts in July and the filing deadline is August 31st for each cycle. But this is not the same for the new vehicles first put into service mid-tax year. For instance, March 1st, 2021, Today, is the due date to file Form 2290 for any new vehicle or vehicle first used in the Month of January.

E-File & Renew HVUT Form 2290 for Tax Year 2020 – 2021.

The Heavy Vehicle Use Tax Form 2290 is due for renewal every year before August 31. Taxes are part and parcel of any business and it is unavoidable. One such tax filed by Truck Owners and Trucking Companies is the Heavy Vehicle Use tax (HVUT) Form 2290. This Tax must be filed annually for any heavy vehicle with a gross weight of 55,000 pounds or above. Since the tax Period for HVUT starts from July and ends in June the Tax is paid in advance by the beginning of Tax Year, the due date to have Form 2290 renewed for Tax Period 2020 – 2021 is August 31.
