Invention of Tractor Trailer:

The first tractor-trailer was first invented by a German American blacksmith, Charles Fruehauf in the year 1914. The fifth wheel is a kind of trailer that couples the tractor and the trailer.

The Passing of the ‘Motor Carrier Act’:

The Congress passed the ‘Motor Carrier Act’ in 1935 also permitting the ICC or Interstate Commerce Commission for granting permits for transporting goods. Additionally, it allowed the ICC to give approval for trucking routes for the vehicles to operate, as well as levy rates for hauling vehicles.
