What are the Tax Returns Deadline in April 2019?

Taxes aren’t the favorite part of our lives but as long as we take care of them before the deadlines, we can take the stress out of these taxes.

We have just had a stressful tax season this month, but there is more to it. If you own a business that deals in certain goods and services subject to excise tax, then it’s time to report the tax to the IRS on FET Form720 for the 1st quarter 2019, due by APRIL 30.

If you are a trucker or an owner operator and have a new Heavy Vehicle first used in the Month of March 2019, then it’s time to report the tax to the IRS on HVUT Form 2290 due by APRIL 30. And in case you haul interstate, you must also file International Fuel tax Agreement report (IFTA) for the 1st Quarter of 2019 with your base jurisdiction due by APRIL 30.

So if you think you’re done with the taxes for the month of April, please check again and make sure to meet the tax deadlines if you fall in any of the above said categories. EIN is Mandatory for the Business and Individual Tax Form E-filings

Employer Identification Number (EIN) on a clipboard.

An employer identification number (EIN) is a nine-digit number assigned by the IRS for the purpose of identifying taxpayers who are required to file various federal tax returns. An EIN or the Federal tax Identification Number is commonly applied by filing an SS-4 application or by contacting the IRS @ (800) 829-4933.

However, most tax payers are not aware about the fact that one must wait until 15 business days for the EIN to be recorded in the IRS e-file database before e-filing a tax form. This fact has been stated by the Federal law of the United States and this thumb rule remains in common for all the Federal Tax Forms such as follows:

  1. Form 2290 ( Heavy Highway Vehicle Used Tax Return)
  2. Form 720 (Quarterly Federal Excise Tax Return)
  3. Form 8849 ( Claim for Refund of Excise taxes)

Unaware of this above mentioned fact, may tax payers tend to use their newly applied EIN while e-filing any one of the Forms listed above would encounter a rejection of application by the Internal Revenue Service since the EIN might not reflect on their database.

At this time, a tax payer has 2 options to sort surpass the rejection, likely either to wait until 15 business days before re-transmitting their application to the IRS (or) By Scheduling an appointment at the local IRS office to File & pay their tax form using the newly applied EIN or SSN.
