IRS Shutdown due to End-of-Year Maintenance!!

Due to end-of-year maintenance, the IRS will be shut down and will not accept any e-filed FORM 2290 & its amendment or FORM 8849 or FORM 720.

Shutdown began on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 11:59 am, and will end on Monday, January 09, 2012 at 9:00 am, Eastern.

During the period, your e-filed Forms will be held in our website and will be processed when IRS reopens to receive e-stamped Schedule-1 for FORM 2290 & its amendments and Accept Acknowledgments for FORM 8849 and FORM 720. Continue reading

Congress has passed and the President has signed an extension of the Heavy Highway Vehicle Use tax through September 30, 2012. By November 30, 2011, taxpayers will be required to file Form 2290 for vehicles first used in July, August, September and October 2011. Although the Form 2290 is expected to be available in late October, the IRS will not provide a stamped (receipted) Schedule 1 until November 1, 2011. In the meantime, you can still pay your 2010 excise tax, get your 2011 tags and register your new or used vehicle. Continue reading

Highway bill extension clears Senate committee!

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee unanimously approved the Surface Transportation Extension Act of 2012, which funds highway programs at current levels through Jan. 31, 2012. It is the eighth extension of the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, and Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users that expired in 2009.
