But during the last day of the last week of August, i.e. the 31st, the IRS has scheduled its e-file facility maintenance activity to begin by 1:00 p.m. EDT.

So, after that time (which would be 10 a.m. on the West Coast) on August 31, 2012, electronic filers will be unable to file form 2290 and send it for processing to the IRS. It simply means that those who e-file after the above deadline will not receive schedule 1 copy until IRS opens its processing gates again after the noon on September 4, 2012.

If definitely you will be able to file your returns only after 1:00 p.m. on August 31 due to unavoidable reasons, don’t worry. The IRS will consider your returns as timely filed provided it receives your electronically filed form 2290 by September 7, 2012.
