IRS E-file shut down is scheduled to begin December 26th 2017!

It is a Known Fact that IRS E-file Servers will be shut down for Year End Maintenance every year by Christmas to prepare their systems for the upcoming Tax Year’s Filing. The IRS has posted it on their official website www.irs.gov that the MeF Production Shutdown/Cutover is scheduled to begin at 11:59 a.m., Tuesday, December 26, 2017, to prepare the system for the upcoming 2018 Filing Season. HVUT Tax Form 2290 Deadline Mid-Month Alert!

We love everything about the holidays: the decorations, the parties, and spending time with friends and family. Most importantly it is the feeling of giving back. Every bit counts. It is very evident that we all are busy making our holiday plans, but we must also make sure that we take care of the obligations before we start partying. One such thing is Taxes.

HVUT, Federal Excise Tax Form 2290 is due by December 31st, for vehicles first used in the month of November. Normally one can E-file their Federal Excise Tax Form 2290, even on the very last day. But that is not the case this Month, The IRS servers are more likely to be shut down for Year end Maintenance before Christmas. So any Tax Return that is submitted during the shutdown period will be processed by the IRS only when they resume operations, which would be by the first week of January 2018. Continue reading

Mandatory Business Information required to Efile Form 2290!

 

Federal Excise Tax Form 2290 must be filed for any heavy vehicle with gross weight of 55,000 lbs or above. To E-file HVUT Form 2290 there are few mandatory information that you need to keep handy before you start the process. Below is the list of your business related information that you need to       E-file your Federal Excise Tax Form 2290.

Business Name & Type: Registered Business name as per the IRS Records is a mandatory piece of information. Make sure that you do not use your DBA i.e. your Doing Business As name instead of your registered business name; it will result in an IRS rejection of your Tax return. Also have your type of business handy when you try to Efile your Form 2290. It can be a Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, Corporation or a LLC. Continue reading

IRS E-file Servers will be down for Maintenance Soon!

Taxes are one thing that we always want to complete on time as it adds Excruciating actions attached to it. There are several Taxes that needs to be filed on or before December 31st, One such Tax is Federal Excise tax Form 2290 (HVUT) for vehicles first used in the month of November. Though E-filing was introduced to lessen the burden for Tax Payers, every year the IRS will shut down their E-file Servers towards the end of the year for Maintenance. Form 2290 Is Due Today! for Vehicles first Used in October

 

HVUT is the Heavy Vehicle Use Tax that is a fee assessed annually on heavy vehicles operating on public highways at registered gross weights equal to or exceeding 55,000 pounds. The gross taxable weight of a vehicle is determined by adding the weight of the Truck, Trailer and load.

Heavy Vehicle Use Taxes must be filed using the Form 2290 Annually. The Tax period for Heavy Vehicles begins on July 1st and ends on June 30th of the following year. The annual renewal of your Form 2290 for a new tax period IS DUE BY August 31st every year.  Continue reading
