Payment Methods Used To Pay IRS Form 2290

Last time we had a post about full service option, which leads the feature list. However, coming out of the features, we thought we should throw some light on payment options that are available when you prepare and file form 2290 online. The technology is growing in its pace and eventually reflecting our lifestyle, which is now welcoming feel for every taxpayer. Additionally, it is making our task easier than before, saving up time and money too.

So when you are preparing form 2290 online, you can pay your dues through the following method:

Direct Debit/ Electronic Funds Withdrawal:

When you are filing HVUT online through Tax2290.com, this method comes in handy. In this payment method, IRS will initiate an electronic funds withdrawal through the details about the bank mentioned by the taxpayer in the -file Heavy Highway (Road) Use Tax Form 2290 return. Also, it is your responsible to maintain sufficient funds in your bank to make the payment. However, to revoke the payment, you can get in touch with U.S. Treasury Financial Agent at 1-888-353-4537 no later than 2 business days before the settlement date.

EFTPS (Electronic Federal Tax Payment System):

This is another method to pay HVUT online. If you are opting for this method, you should be sure that you hold responsible to schedule a payment on your own and take up the responsibility to pay taxes on time. To create an account or manage it, visit eftps.gov or call 1-800-555-4477. To initiate a payment through this account, the transaction should be initiated at least one business day before the due date.

Check or Money Order:

However, if you are not so keen in making a payment online or using EFTPS, you can always prepare your return online and make your payment through check or money order. The tax payment should  be done by or before the due date in order to leave behind the penalties. To make use of this method, print the completed payment voucher 2290-V and mail it to IRS.

Note: You are not allowed to send in their return as cash. The check or money order should be payable to United States Treasury. Add details like name, address, EIN, “Form 2290,” and the date (as entered in Box 3) on your payment. Detach the payment voucher 2290-V and send across the payment. If you choose to file it electronically (e-filing), form 2290 and schedule-1 copy with the payment voucher is not required. Stapling the payment to the voucher or form 2290 should be avoided.
Send the payment and voucher 2290-V to:
