Truckers and the Trucking Industry professionals work hard for the betterment of the country and earn very less for the tedious job they do.

Taxes are part and parcel of any business and it is unavoidable. One such tax filed by Truck Owners and Trucking Companies is the Heavy Vehicle Use tax (HVUT) Form 2290. This Tax must be filed annually for any heavy vehicle with a gross weight of 55,000 pounds are above. Since the tax Period for HVUT goes from July to June and the Tax is paid in advance by the beginning of Tax Year we are up for the Upcoming Tax Period 2018 – 2019. Continue reading

Form 2290 Is Due Tomorrow, For Vehicles first Used in April!

HVUT is the Heavy Vehicle Use Tax that is a fee assessed annually on heavy vehicles operating on public highways at registered gross weights equal to or exceeding 55,000 pounds. The gross taxable weight of a vehicle is determined by adding the weight of the Truck, Trailer and load.

Heavy Vehicle Use Taxes must be filed using the Form 2290 Annually. The Tax period for Heavy Vehicles begins on July 1st and ends on June 30th of the following year. The annual renewal of your Form 2290 for a new tax period IS DUE BY August 31st each year.  Continue reading

E-file HVUT Form 2290, before IRS Memorial Day Systems Shutdown!

Every Year Last Monday of May is observed as Memorial Day and it is a Federal Holiday in the remembrance of citizen’s who sacrificed their lives serving in the nation’s Armed Forces.  Very often people get confused between Memorial Day & Veteran’s Day Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving, while Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans.

Like Every Year the IRS Servers will be shut down for Memorial Day & the IRS will not be working during this Shut down period.  The IRS Systems will be down beginning Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. and ending on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 6:00 a.m. During this time No tax payer can receive any sort of acknowledgement for their E-filed Tax forms.
