The Countdown Begins, only Ten Days to go to for Form 2290 Deadline!

 

Dear Truckers and Trucking Industry folks, we all know this is that time of the Year when we renew Our Heavy highway Vehicle Use tax Form 2290 for Tax Year 2017 – 2018. As a well known fact the IRS gives us ample time to file this Form, two months i.e. July & August. August 31st is the due date to file HVUT Form 2290 for tax Year 2017 – 2018.

Hope you noted that, we only have 10 Days left including Today August 22nd and the weekends. If you are thinking of walking into local IRS Office in the left 8 working days, that is close to impossible because These days you have to schedule an appointment before you step in to their premises to File Form 2290. Time to Renew your IRS FORM 2290 for Tax Year 2017 – 2018!

Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT):  IRS Form 2290 is used to File Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT), for Heavy vehicles with a gross weight of 55,000 lbs or above. The Tax period for Form 2290 begins by July and goes on till June of the following Year. Upon successful completion of IRS Form 2290 the IRS issues a Stamped Schedule 1 Copy which will act as a proof for Filing Form 2290 and it is a must have Document for many purposes for Heavy Trucks.

Tax Year 2017 – 2018: Unlike Other tax Forms which are normally filed at the end of Tax year, IRS Form 2290 is filed in advance. Example for Tax 2017 – 2018 the HVUT Form must be filed and paid in 2017 itself. HVUT Form 2290 must be filed for trucks that were bought into service in between the Tax Year by the following Month of the Month First used. No Matter when you file the HVUT for a Heavy Vehicle and No Matter when your registration is due. All you Stamped Schedule 1 Copy will Expire by the end of June and due for renewal on or before August 31st. Many non constant factors affect their lifestyle HOS, weather, loading and unloading delays, appointments, breakdowns, traffic, etc. Also depends on what they haul, Flat beds don’t usually get unloaded at night.
